About Shaleen Mahtani

Shaleen Mahtani is a mortgage banker with a track record that spans nearly three decades. She entered the industry in September 1999 as a mortgage banking assistant and earned her way up through ability alone. Her expertise in finance is grounded in a BBA in Finance from the University of Georgia, and she has spent her entire career putting that foundation to work for clients navigating one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

In 2003, Wells Fargo tapped Shaleen to build their Private Mortgage Banking Division in New Jersey from scratch. She started with a team of three. By the time she left, she had grown that team to 36 direct reports. The division earned a top 10% national ranking in growth and profitability, and Shaleen herself was recognized with Wells Fargo's Leaders Club award, given to the top 10% of the bank, and the Presidents Club award, reserved for the top 1%. Those results did not come from luck. They came from years of being the first one in and the last one to leave.

Shaleen came to the United States at 14. She worked while attending high school and then university, and she has never forgotten what it felt like to have very little. Those early years shaped everything: her belief that nothing worthwhile comes without effort, her refusal to quit when things get hard, and her commitment to earning every opportunity rather than expecting it. When her father passed away from a brain tumor at 53, she watched her mother, then just 40, hold the family together without flinching. That example of quiet toughness became Shaleen's own standard. She approaches setbacks the same way: step back for a day or two, assess clearly, then move forward hard.

Shaleen gives back through two causes she cares about deeply: Children's Hope India and Habitat for Humanity. Outside of work, she stays grounded through fitness, cooking, and mahjong. Her husband has been a consistent source of support throughout a career that rarely stops at 5 p.m., and her children have grown up watching what steady, disciplined work actually looks like. The legacy she is building is straightforward: to be known as an ethical, hardworking, and accomplished mortgage banker who earned everything she has over 27 years in the business.
